Derik is the founder, president and managing attorney of Vantis Law Firm. He is a California real estate attorney and a licensed Realtor® with over 30 years’ experience in the real estate business. For more than two decades as an attorney in private practice, he represented clients in negotiating, structuring, documenting and closing commercial and residential real estate transactions. He has also served as guest lecturer at USC Gould School of Law, speaking on distressed real estate transactions and the aftermath of the 2007/08 real estate collapse.
DISTRESSED REAL ESTATE
Vantis Law represents Clients in resolving troubled real estate matters. We advise on workouts involving complex loan restructuring, modification, forbearance, foreclosure, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, short sale and other recovery and/or disposition options.
TRANSACTIONAL REAL ESTATE
Our firm is highly skilled in negotiating and drafting purchase and sale agreements, financing documents, joint venture documents, development and entitlement agreements, easements, licenses and leases, along with examining and evaluating title reports, surveys and other due diligence materials.
Our commercial finance practice includes negotiating and documenting various secured and unsecured loans including acquisition & development loans, construction loans, multi-project borrowing base loans, asset-based loans and factoring agreements. We negotiate and draft multi-lender participations and syndications, intercreditor agreements, and other finance related documents.
Vantis Law has extensive experience in structuring, forming and representing corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies for various real estate joint ventures and syndications. Our representation of such entities includes preparing applications and filings for real estate related securities matters.
